Primo Piano has been serving music lovers in the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area for twenty years. We provide music instruction to students of all ages and abilities in Ajax, Pickering and surrounding regions.

Piano Lesson Myths and Facts

Myth #88: "You should never look at your hands when you play piano."

Fact: Professional pianists memorize their music and, of course, look at their hands when they play.

Doing anything without looking at your hands would be unnatural, so why would playing piano be any different?

The only time this is useful is when sight reading. Playing without looking at your hands allows you to read ahead in the music, which enhances sight reading.
